Description
It’s officially the start of spring and the turn of the season means lighter nights, warmer days (we hope!) and our first seasonal new potato of the year; Majorcan.
Grown on a farm in Sa Pobla, Majorcan seasonal new potatoes are found at the heart of the potato growing region. Local growers have been exporting potatoes grown in its red clay soil to the UK since 1924 and thanks to Spain’s warm sunny climate, new potatoes can be planted early, giving us in the UK a tasty crop in advance of Jersey Royals and Cornish new potatoes.
Majorcan new potatoes are characterised by their fluffy skin and mild earthy fresh flavour, they’re packed with vitamins and naturally fat free so great for the whole family. Locally, they’re enjoyed simply boiled with salt, mint and butter, but they’re incredibly versatile – ideal for salads, roasting whole, or in light, spicy stews and patatas bravas.
